LDM Secures Defense Verdict in Scott County, Iowa

Partners Andrew Johnson, Mike Storey, and Rick Harris recently secured a defense verdict on behalf of a physiatrist, an ARNP, and their hospital employer in a medical malpractice trial in Scott County, Iowa. Plaintiffs sought $27 million from the jury during the two-week trial. Plaintiffs alleged that LDM’s clients’ actions contributed to the premature discontinuation of antibiotics. The patient subsequently died from MRSA. LDM, through both client and expert testimony, argued that the physiatrist and ARNP were diligent, communicative, and thoughtful practitioners who met the standard of care. The jury ultimately agreed and entered a complete defense verdict for LDM’s three clients.
